Brushstrokes is a beautiful painterly rug, hand-knotted in Nepal. Using 32 colours, our Artisan weavers incorporate an array of threads to capture the nuances of each individual brushstroke. Creating subtle tonal variations throughout the piece, Brushstrokes successfully translates these marks as if the threads woven within the rug were paints meeting upon the surface of a canvas. The blending of the highest quality silk and Tibetan wool provides an added level of dimension to the rug, by replicating the highly textured layering of paint found within the original artwork. Diamonds Vintage is a luxury geometric rug that originated from an in house textile print which was made with a cotton reel and ink on fabric. This best selling design has been hand-knotted using Tibetan wool and Chinese silk to create this angular silver and gold pattern, and as the name states, this rug undergoes a vintage progress in order to create an interesting high/low pile. The bold geometric design is created by blending together 7 shades of neutral, which work to emulate the refracted light caused by the construction of these angular forms. The Tibetan wool yarn provides the rug with its sandy hues, while the integration of Chinese silk within the lighter areas emphasises the contrast between light and dark, giving the illusion of tessellating prisms across the plane of the rug. Our limited edition 17th Century Classic Persian Vase design is based on 'The Most Expensive Rug In The World' an original antique Persian carpet which was sold for $33 million dollars. The intricate silk design consists of beautiful vines, flowers, and sickle shaped leaves in rich jewel colours on deep red wool ground. This design has been finished with an oxidisation technique which affects the wool beneath the overriding layer of silk, creating an extraordinary 3D effect with a unique look and antique appearance. Inspired by nature, ‘The Path Of Hollow Words’ by German Artist Stefan Heyer has been skilfully recreated by Knots Rugs and their Artisan weavers in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal. Heyer specialises in gestural abstract paintings which are extremely layered as he drips paint and scrawls words with the use of mixed mediums including oil paints, acrylic paints, crayon, pencil, marker, and photo transfer. In this particular piece, Heyer has even included the use of dried plants and other foraging. Hand-knotted in a fusion of wool and silk, the lustrous accents encourage you to look closer and discover Heyer’s signature writing hidden within the design. Zodiac | Original
Inspired by an original Turkish Oushak rug, Zodiac is a modernised interpretation of the 15th Century Classic design. Woven in a soft colour palette of pinks, greens and golds, featuring a large 8-lobed central medallion with astrological symbols and characters integrated throughout the carpet. Zodiac has been intricately hand-knotted in Afghanistan in a 45/45 Persian knot quality, using fine, long-fibre Ghazni wool, natural vegetable and mineral dyes, and a variety of regional weaving techniques, all of which lend a unique character to Afghan made rugs. Created in in collaboration with Turquoise Mountain, which was founded in 2006 by the Price of Wales in order to protect and revive Afghanistan’s historic craft, artisan traditions and skills which dates back thousands of years.
